LilySilk Cashmere Turtleneck Review

Get used to seeing more plants as props, friends. I’ve been gifted two identical ones recently.

Considering my love for knitwear, it’s no surprise that I’m dedicating another post to…well…a sweater, turtleneck to be precise. There is something so snuggly and cozy about turtlenecks. I’ve come to realize that they are especially perfect for working from home in the wintertime. Turtlenecks look professional over video calls and also keep me toasty!

I’ve worn my black Everlane cashmere turtleneck a ton and it’s still going strong. Naturally when I wanted to add another turtleneck to my collection, I hoped to pick another color from the Everlane cashmere turtleneck range. To my disappointment, Everlane only carries one color in this design.

You know what they say, when one door closes, another one opens. *wipes tear* It took some time because it’s hard to find pure, good quality cashmere at a reasonable price point. But eventually, I discovered the LilySilk cashmere turtleneck, which is available in five colors and the price point is comparable to Everlane’s.

I ended up ordering the cashmere turtleneck in white and a wool cardigan also in white. I’ve worn both a ton in the last few months, but will focus on the turtleneck in this post.

The LilySilk brand

I always assumed that LilySilk is an exclusively silk sleepwear brand. However, the brand surprised me with its extensive range of clothing and bedding! I was immediately drawn to LilySilk’s use of grade A cashmere from goats in inner Mongolia. My favorite sweater of all time is also made from cashmere derived from the goats in inner Mongolia. I also like that LilySilk is a woman-owned business, yay!

I found it a bit odd, however, that their website states that their “bestselling products” are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified. Logically, I’m not sure how it works to certify products once they’ve become bestsellers. Surely, it should happen prior to a product becoming a bestseller. A small observation.

Anyway, moving on.

Shipping & packaging

I placed my order online on the LilySilk website. I wasn’t charged any shipping fee or custom duties even though I anticipated the latter because with smaller international brands I’ve always paid duties in the Netherlands. Not complaining!

LilySilk doesn’t cover return shipping costs, so if you plan to return any items in your order then you should take their return policy into account.

My order delivered in about ten days. Both the pieces of knitwear arrived packed in separate LilySilk boxes. Each sweater was additionally wrapped in a beautiful white paper, which had LilySilk monogrammed in bronze ink. Gorgeous, right?

Sizing & quality

I checked my measurements against the sizing chart on the LilySilk website prior to ordering, and it lined up with other sweaters I own in a small size. The fit of the small on me is slightly on the loose side. But the cut of the turtleneck isn’t supposed to be figure hugging, so I did anticipate the slightly loose fit. And honestly, I quite like the casual vibe of a fashionably flowy turtleneck. One additional point on sizing if you’ve a shorter torso like I do, the turtleneck isn’t obsencnly long so tucking it in will not be a fashion nightmare for you.

The cashmere isn’t scratchy at all. It’s buttery soft in the hand and on the skin. In comparison to my Naadam cashmere crewneck sweater that I also have in white, the LilySilk’s cashmere is slightly on the thinner side. I’m not sure if that means lesser quality or a different type of knit. In my two months of continually wearing and washing the turtleneck, I’ve not seen any pilling or stretching. So, I’d say the quality is great!

One thing to keep in mind is that the white turtleneck is actually a stunning cream in person and not a white-white.

Final thoughts

Yup, plant again.

I’m very happy with my LilySilk white cashmere turtleneck. The wide range of LilySilk’s basics is right up my alley! I already have my heart set on a couple of items like this silk camisole and boatneck cashmere sweater. The entire ordering and shipping process also turned out seamless even though I anticipated hiccups.

Will I purchase from LilySilk again? Definitely. Will I re-puchase the LilySilk cashmere turtleneck in a different color? Absolutely!

The Lilysilk cashmere turtleneck looks gorgeous! I love the colour and mixed with the softness it must feel like a dream! I don’t have a cashmere turtleneck but I would definitely add one in black to my wardrobe – I just need to do the math thinking about how many clothing items I want to buy this year.

Would also love to see the wool cardigan and how you wear/style it. I am always attracted to the idea of cardigans but I don’t seem to quite pull it off or like how it looks on me.
