What I Wore This Week

I recently disabled my Instagram account because it became very time-consuming and prevented me from writing here. At this point, I’m not sure if or when I’ll be back on the gram, but I’ll definitely be using my blog to channel all creativity. In that pursuit, I’m starting a new blog series where I can share the outfits that I wear on the daily.

Most of you know I work a corporate 9 to 5 with a dress code, so depending on my day’s agenda my outfits are business casual or formal. I’ve recently got started on the capsule wardrobe bandwagon to reduce mindless spending and unnecessary hoarding. So, the outfits in this post feature pieces from my winter workwear capsule wardrobe that I’ve shared here.

I didn’t manage to shoot all the outfits I wore last week, but I got a couple. If you’d like me to share more such posts then let me know, so I’m better prepared in the future. I was thinking something along the lines of five days of work fashion…but what do I know? You tell me!

Moving on to the outfits! And as always, I’ll link to the items still available.

Outfit # 1

I love a cropped blazer and this one is my current favorite. It’s in a nice tweed material that keeps me warm too. I paired the blazer with an old shell from Calvin Klein that I scored at $10 in some discount store back when I was a college student in the US. It still feels brand new after probably a hundred wears, and I love it! For bottoms, I opted for my navy Tommy trousers that have stitched creases. I absolutely hate ironing, so stitched creases are my go-to! I completed the look with my trusty black heels in patent leather and my Daniel Wellington watch.

Outfit # 2

The grey checkered blazer has been doing the rounds since 2017 probably and I finally got into the trend last year. I scored this blazer at a bargain from H&M and have worn it non-stop since then. It goes with everything in my wardrobe, and that’s always a win in my books. For this outfit, I paired it with black trousers (also with stitched creases) and an old white blouse with an understated bow and ruffles.

Speaking of bows, they’re so on trend lately! In case you too are taking the Blair Waldorf vibes seriously, I’m pinning away ideas to incorporate hair bows into daily outfits on my Pinterest hair board. Take a look!

Outfit # 3

This is not a work outfit, but I thought I’d show it anyway. Because I’m so focused on my work wardrobe, I hardly ever think about building a casual wardrobe. So come dates or hangouts with friends and I find myself in a dilemma about what to wear. Does that sound familiar?

So for our dinner date on Saturday, I borrowed this black Everlane turtleneck from my workwear capsule and paired it with my only pair of jeans. I accessorized the outfit with an old blush pink and dull gold necklace, which elevated the otherwise plain turtleneck. To add some edge, I went with my heeled black leather boots. I got mine about about two years ago, but Jigsaw came out with a similar style this year as well. Not pictured is my black crossbody purse from Linjer, which I’ve reviewed in an earlier post.

I was hesitant at first, but then I went ahead and completed the look with a red liquid lipstick from theBalm in the shade Loyal. I remember liquid lipsticks as uncomfortable and drying, but this one was neither! It also didn’t budge as I devoured a three-course meal and plenty of tea after. The above picture is testament since I took it after reaching home. All in all, super glad that the sample made its way to my vanity and I got to try it. The shade is also very flattering on olive skin tones like mine and was perfect for date night considering the rest of my makeup was minimal.

This was all for today. Let me know what kind of posts you’d like to see! I’m thinking of writing a post about my meal-planning, grocery, and batch cooking process–if there is interest, of course.

Take care! Until next time, lovelies. xx
